Former pop-star Aaron Carter was arrested for DUI and drug possession Saturday in Habersham County, GA., according to Fox5 Atlanta. The station also reported that his girlfriend, Madison Parker, was arrested with him.
NBC News’ Kurt Chirbas said that the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Carter’s arrest for DUI, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and drug-related objects. Parker is charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce, obstruction of law enforcement officers and possession of drug-related objects.
According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Carter was driving erratically on GA-385 when he was pulled over.
A few hours prior to his arrest, Carter had posted on his Twitter page that, “due to transportation issues, he would not make his scheduled show in Kansas City.”
Carter was arrested back in 2008 in Kimble County, TX., for investigation of marijuana possession. Carter was pulled over for speeding, and during a search of his vehicle, authorities found less than two ounces of marijuana, according to FoxNews.
Carter, 29, is the younger brother of former-Backstreet Boy Nick Carter. Aaron Carter’s second album, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), was released in 2000 and sold over 3 million copies in the U.S. In 2009, Carter was on season nine of Dancing With The Stars and finished in fifth place.
Carter plans to give a sneak peak of new music and host a meet-and-greet in Birmingham, AL., on July 18, according to his Twitter page.
