Spicer resigned from his job as White House press secretary earlier Friday morning. According to The New York Times, Spicer vehemently disagreed with the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as communications director.

Spicer posted the following message on Twitter after his resignation:

President Trump offered Scaramucci the job at 10 a.m., and Spicer resigned shortly after. Trump requested that Spicer stay on, but Spicer told Trump that he believed the appointment was a major mistake, according to The Times.

Spicer held the position of White House press secretary for a little over six months.

Scaramucci was originally scheduled to also give an interview to Hannity, but that is no longer the case. White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus will still be on with Hannity.

Earlier today, Scaramucci took the podium at the White House’s first on-camera press briefing in almost a month. Scaramucci announced that Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be the new White House press secretary.

Scaramucci aslo spoke about Spicer has his departure:

“I want to thank, personally, Sean Spicer,” said Scaramucci. “Not only on behalf of myself, the president, the administration. Sean is a true American patriot. He’s a military serviceman, he’s got a great family, and he’s done an amazing job. This is obviously a difficult situation to be in. And, I applaud his efforts her and I love the guy, and I wish him well. And, I hope he goes on to make a tremendous amount of money.”
