Facebook Donald Trump motions to French First Lady Brigitte Macron.
President Donald Trump appeared to tell French First Lady Brigitte Macron that she’s “in such good shape” upon his arrival to Paris to take part in the Bastille Day celebration.
The exchange happened Thursday when French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte were welcoming Trump and First Lady Melania to the country ahead of the annual celebration commemorating the Storming of the Bastille on July 14.
After their arrival at the French presidential palace, the Macrons treated the Trumps to a tour of nearby Les Invalides. The four congregate at the top of a set of stairs and pose together for photos inside of the building before parting ways. But not before Trump appears to compliment the Brigitte on her physique.
Trump steps toward Brigitte and appears to tell her, “You’re in such good shape…beautiful,” before Melania heads off with her and Trump walks away with the French president.

Before the body compliment, Brigitte greeted Trump with a traditional kiss and a lengthy handshake. She hung onto his hand for quite some time, even as he pulled away and moved toward Melania.

Here’s that awkward handshake between Trump and France’s Brigitte Macron.
The Associated Press reported that Trump and Macron were set to talk about topics such as the ongoing crisis in Syria, as well as counter-terrorism strategies during a meeting on his visit to the country. In addition to that, the AP said that Trump and Macron “are looking to set aside differences on trade and climate change” ahead of Bastille Day.
The two held a joint press conference later in the day — around 6 p.m. local time — and took a limited number of questions from media members.
Among those questions was one directed at Trump, asking him about the meaning behind his son’s meeting with a Russian lawyer last June during his presidential campaign.
Trump commended his son once again, saying he’s a “great young man,” adding that “most people would have taken that meeting.”
It’s that meeting in which Trump Jr. has drawn fire for. Once the report surfaced that he was seeking the meeting to gain potentially damming information about Hillary Clinton, Trump Jr. himself released a set of emails showing the exchange between all parties involved as they tried to organize a proper time to meet.
