President Donald Trump retweeted a meme from a supporter on Thursday showing him eclipsing President Barack Obama. Trump also used his favorite medium to complain about House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, both members of his own party, for their handling of the upcoming debt ceiling talks. And in tweets about the “Fake News,” he used incorrect grammar.

The retweeted image shows Trump slowly moving in front of his predecessor, with the text “The Best Eclipse Ever.” The image is similar to one circulated by Obama supporters, which shows Obama moving in front of Trump. “The only eclipse I want to see today,” the text reads.

Trump continued his Thursday morning Twitter rant with another jab at the “Fake News” media for commenting on the wide range of tones he took in the first three days of the week. On Monday night, he delivered a somber speech on his Afghanistan policy, but shifted gears dramatically for his Phoenix rally. On Wednesday, he was back to reading a teleprompter before the American Legion Convention in Reno, Nevada.
In the first tweet, he used “their” instead of “there.” In the second, he used “to” when he should have written “too.” Trump has a notorious habit for misspelling use or posting tweets with incorrect grammar. This past weekend, Trump mistakenly tweeted that the country needed “to heel” twice before he got it right.

Before the president posted the meme, he lashed out at the two Congressional leaders he needs to work with if he hopes to get any of his agenda through Congress.

They didn’t do it so now we have a big deal with Dems holding them up (as usual) on Debt Ceiling approval. Could have been so easy-now a mess!” Trump wrote over two tweets.

The U.S. government needs to raise the debt ceiling in order to avoid defaulting on its debt. During an event on Monday, McConnell, whose relationship with Trump has soured since the Senate couldn’t repeal and replace Obamacare this summer, said he was sure that the debt ceiling will be raised.
“There is zero chance — no chance — we won’t raise the debt ceiling. No chance,” McConnell said, CNBC reports, with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin by his side. “America’s not going to default. And we’ll get the job done in conjunction with the secretary of the Treasury.”
Mnuchin said at the same event that raising the debt ceiling is a bipartisan issue. “We need to be able to pay our debts,” he said. “This is about having a clean debt ceiling so that we can maintain the best credit, the reserve currency and be focused on what we should be focusing on so many other really important issues for the economy.”
Trump suggested on Twitter that raising the debt ceiling should have been included in the new Veterans Affairs bill he signed yesterday during the American Legion convention. Dow Jones Newswire reported in July that Republicans were considering this option, but ultimately decided against it.
The tweet criticizing McConnell comes as Trump’s relationship with the Kentucky Senator and other members of the Senate is on thin ice, even as McConnell’s wife Elaine Chao serves as Trump’s Transportation Secretary. The New York Times reported on August 22 that McConnell and Trump haven’t spoke in weeks and that McConnell has privately told those close to him that he thinks Trump will be unable to salvage his presidency after his summer crises. The Times also reported earlier this month that Trump had a combative phone call with McConnell. Trump took his frustrations public on Twitter, writing, “Senator Mitch McConnell said I had ‘excessive expectations,’ but I don’t think so. After 7 years of hearing Repeal & Replace, why not done?”
In another tweet, Trump went after former Director of Intelligence James Clapper, following Clapper’s CNN interview. “I really question his ability to be — his fitness to be — in this office, and I also am beginning to wonder about his motivation for it,” Clapper said on CNN after Trump’s Phoenix rally.
