WATCH: Ryan Clayton Throws Russian Flags at President Trump

A protester shouted, “Trump is treason, Trump is Treason!” before throwing miniature Russian flags at the president. Trump was walking with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell into the senate when the incident occurred. CBS News reports that Trump was in the Capitol to have a policy lunch with Republican senators. The network points out that tax reform was likely to be top of the agenda.

The Intercept’s Ryan Grim id’d the protester as Ryan Clayton. Clayton was also heard to shout, “We should be talking about treason not tax cuts.” ABC News reports that Clayton has been taken into custody by Capitol Police.

In February 2017, Clayton was called out by discredited journalist James O’Keefe on Twitter. Clayton had been apparently handing out miniature Russian flags at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

NBC News reported that Clayton, along with Jason Charters handed out close to 1,000 Russian flags. Charters told the network, “The amount of people who didn’t know the flag was astonishing.” While Clayton said, “It makes a great point. We shouldn’t have foreign powers picking out president. Some call it a false flay operation. I like to call it a true flag operation because Trump’s definitely in the wrong kind of red, white and blue.”

While in July 2017, Clayton also made news when he threw a Russian flag at Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, while Kushner was heading to a Senate Intelligence interview.

On his profile at the Huffington Post, Clayton is the president of Americans Take Action. He writes, “Currently, our top priority is resisting the Trump regime, every day and every step of the way.” The investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia has taken a media backseat in recent weeks to the hurricane in Puerto Rico, NFL player protests and the controversy over the four Green Berets who were killed in Niger in early October.
