The cupcake craze has been waning for a while, and every new dessert (cronuts, anyone?) is called ‘the new cupcake.’ But Crumbs lasted far longer than many other bakeries that couldn’t survive after the sweet cupcake bubble popped.
Crumbs is closing all 48 locations in 10 states, and their official statement was very dry:
Regrettably Crumbs has been forced to cease operations and is immediately attending to the dislocation of its devoted employees while it evaluates its limited remaining options.
Crumbs started as a mom and pop style bakery on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, but expanded to the largest chain in America with over 79 locations.
