Tis the season for holiday cheer … and a lot of big sales. Unfortunately, for those who are trying to pick up last-minute gifts, your hours are a little more limited this year. Walmart will close its doors on Christmas eve in the U.S. at 6 p.m. ET/PT, unlike last year, which had stores open a bit later in the evening. Judith McKenna, the chief operating officer for Walmart’s U.S. unit, told CNN Money:
Our associates work hard all year to make this holiday season special for our customers, and we truly appreciate what they do every day. We also know that getting home on Christmas Eve to spend time with families is important. That’s why this year we’ll be closing at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Walmart will not reopen until December 26, 2016 at 6 a.m., but shoppers are free to shop online. As for Target stores, they are also closed on Christmas Day. When it comes to Christmas Eve, however, their hours are from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Target store employees resume working on December 26, 2016 from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. ET/PT
