You may remember Lexi Thompson from her qualification for the U.S. Open in 2007 at the age of 12. Thompson has been tearing up the LPGA for four years now and is competing in the 2014 Wegmans LPGA Championship, shooting a 6 under 66 in her first round.

1. She Was the Youngest Golfer Ever to Qualify for the U.S. Open in 2007
Thompson hit headlines when she was 12 years old after qualifying for the 2007 U.S. Open to become the youngest golfer ever to qualify for the event. She ended up shooting 86-82, failing to make the cut, but had made her mark on the world of golf.
In 2014, Thompson’s record was broken when 11-year-old Lucy Li qualified for the U.S. Open.
2. She Was Home-Schooled
Thompson was born in Coral Springs, Florida where she grew up with two older brothers. She was coached by one of the top golf teachers in the country, Jim McLean. Her parents decided to homeschool her when they realized her potential in golf.
3. Her Brother Plays on the PGA Tour
Thompson’s whole family is extremely golf oriented when it comes to outside interests. Her brother, Nicholas Thompson has been a member of the PGA Tour since 2005 when he graduated from Georgia Tech. Her other brother Curtis currently attends Louisiana State University where he golfs in the Division I conference.
4. She Went Pro When She Was 15
Three years after her impressive U.S. Open qualifying round, Thompson became a member of the LPGA Tour at 15 years old. Since she has won her first major, the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship beating Michelle Wie by 3 strokes. She has won three other tournaments too including the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic, 2013 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and the 2013 Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
