The New York Jets defense could be extremely dangerous this season.
In their season-opener Sunday, New York held Oakland to just 158 yards of total offense, including just 25 yards on the ground. After a hot-start from Oakland quarterback Derek Carr, the Jets defense just dominated the Raiders in the second half.
The play of the Jets defense allowed the offense to find its rhythm later in the game. With the loss, Oakland now has 14-game losing streak on eastern time zone.

Jets Score First
After a 10-play opening drive, New York Jets kicker Nick Folk hit a 45-yard field goal to put the Jets up 3-0 five minutes into the game.
Oakland Takes Lead With TD

Oakland quarterback Derek Carr got off to a hot start in his NFL career.
Carr, the younger brother of former Houston No. 1 overall pick David Carr, started his NFL career 5-for-5 hit, capped off by a 12-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Rod Streater on 3rd down for his first career touchdown pass.
The touchdown was set up by a diving interception from Charles Woodson, who picked off Geno Smith to set Oakland up at the Jets 28-yard line.

Jets Take Lead Right Before Halftime

The Jets scored their first touchdown of the season with only 30 seconds left in the first half to retake the lead. Quarterback Geno Smith hit running back Chris Johnson with a 5-yard shovel pass. Oakland’s Justin Tuck, who was acquired from the New York Giants in the offseason, nearly stopped Johnson short of the goal line, but the running back was able to cross the ball into the endzone.
Earlier in the second quarter, the Jets were in the red zone, but fumbled at the three-yard line on second-and-goal.
Jets Extend Lead
The Jets added to their lead when Nick Folk hit a 42-yard field goal. The Jets were driving down the field, but on third-down, the Raiders forced a fumble, which fell backwards, before Geno Smith fell on top of it to maintain possession.

Jets Defense Dominating
The Jets defense, led by their defensive line, have taken over the game. Oakland has once again been forced into a three-and-out, as the Jets led 13-6 with 13 minutes remaining.

Ivory Breaks Long TD Run
Chris Ivory couldn’t be brought down.
On the first play of the drive for New York, Ivory, who finished with 102 yards, ran for a 71-yard touchdown, where he bounced off several Oakland defenders, to give the Jets a 19-7 lead with 8 minutes remaining.
The Jets were then unable to convert a 2-point attempt.
Jones Makes Leaping TD Catch to Close Gap
With 1:20 remaining, Oakland wide receiver James Jones made a leaping catch in the front-corner of the end zone to cut New York’s lead to 19-14 with 1:21 remaining.

The Raiders then attempted an onside kick, but were unable to recover it, and the Jets were able to run out the remainder of the clock.
