Bobby Petrino makes his return to the Louisville sidelines Monday night when Louisville hosts Miami in the season opener for both teams. It’s a key matchup between ACC rivals who won a combined 23 games last year and are hoping to contend for a conference title.

The win capped a 12-1 season for the Cardinals that coach Charlie Strong parlayed into the head coaching job at Texas, paving the way for Petrino to return after a seven-year absence marred by an abrupt departure from the Atlanta Falcons and a scandal at Arkansas.
The game is Louisville’s first as a member of the ACC — an occasion the school is marking with its first “blackout” since 2008. Sophomore Will Gardner will start under center for Louisville, while true freshman Brad Kaaya will start for the Hurricanes.
