Kentucky didn’t stand much of a chance Saturday against South Carolina even when it figured to have its roster fully intact.

But the Wildcats’ chances at an upset may have gone from slim to none Monday when the school suspended four freshmen players for their involvement in an incident in which shots were fired with an air pistol near a campus residence hall on Sunday night.

The school announced that it had suspended running back Stanley Williams, backup quarterback Drew Barker, wide receiver Dorian Baker and defensive end Tymere Dubose.

Williams, pictured above, was leading the Wildcats in all-purpose yards.

No one was injured in the incident, but school officials issued locked down the campus after getting reports of shots fired.

Coach Mark Stoops announced the suspensions and said the players would face additional internal discipline.

“Proper conduct is emphasized as a core value of our program,” Stoops said, according to Kentucky.com. “If we have a situation in which someone who does not act according to our standards, we hold him accountable.”
