Wil Myers Rumors: San Diego Is The Frontrunner

Rumors have been surrounding the availability of Tampa Bay Rays outfield Wil Myers, and the organization may be looking to move the 24-year-old right fielder who was the centerpiece returning to Tampa in the December 2012 trade that sent James Shields and Wade Davis to the Kansas City Royals. Shields and Davis were two of the main clogs of this year’s Royals team that swept through the American League in the playoffs, and came within one game and one base of winning the 2014 World Series.

Myers has struggled to stay healthy in his two seasons in Florida. Myers’ through 175 games combined in 2013 and 2014 has a slash line of: .258/.324/.400 with 19 home runs and 88 RBIs. It isn’t the best line of a highly-touted prospect, but Myers has shown flashes, enough to make him expendable to a Rays team that is flipping the switch and reloading in the wake of the July’s David Price trade.
