Hampton, who entered the play-in game with a 16-17, sub .500 record, shocked the world when they defeated the MAAC Champion Manhattan Jaspers 74-64 to earn a date with… the 34-0 Kentucky Wildcats in the 1-16 game on Thursday.

When asked about his team’s chances against the Wildcats on Thursday, Hampton head coach Edward Joyner responded:

The question that prompted the response was: “Earlier in the week Reggie Miller said it would take an act of God for someone to beat Kentucky. How big of a mountain do you guys have to climb on Thursday?”

At least Joyner didn’t tear his ACL in the post-game celebration…
