The English Premier League title is slowly slipping away from the grasp of Manchester City, as rivals Chelsea have pulled nine points clear with eight games remaining. That, combined with elimination in the second round of the Champions League, has turned this season into a disappointment.
Manchester City would need to win out and get massive help from the Blues to win a third championship in four years. Manager Manuel Pellegrini has declared the race dead and instead is focusing on securing second spot.
That battle begins on Easter Monday as City travel to the capital to take on Crystal Palace. City is currently in fourth, but a win tonight would send them back into second. The Eagles are flying high under manager Alan Pardew, who took over in January and has led a second-half surge out of the relegation zone and into mid-table security. Palace has 19 points in the 10 matches since Pardew arrived, compared to the 17 points in 20 matches before his appointment.
Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha are Palace’s two top threats, while Sergio Aguero has 17 goals for Manchester City.
Prior to the international break, Manchester City defeated West Brom 3-0 at home and Palace beat Stoke 2-1 on the road.
