A pair of teams in flux for different reasons will square off in the Western Conference quarterfinals as No. 2 Houston meets No. 7 Dallas in a best-of-seven series starting Saturday night.
The Rockets (56-26) captured the Southwest division championship, but enter the playoffs without starting point guard Patrick Beverley.
The Mavericks (50-32) are healthy, but have played poorly over the second half of the season. Dallas is 31-24 since trading for Rajon Rondo in December.
James Harden averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game to lead Houston this season.
