Sunday is the 99th running of the Indianapolis 500 and one participant has a chance to join an elite group of drivers as a 4-time winner of the historic event.

Helio Castroneves has won the Indy 500 3 times – as a rookie in 2001, then a repeat 2002 and and again in 2009.

With a victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon, he’ll become just the 4th driver to have won “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” 4 times.

Those who have accomplished the feat: A.J. Foyt (1961, 1964, 1967, 1977); Al Unser (1970, 1971, 1978, 1987); and Rick Mears (1979, 1984, 1988, 1991).

Including Castroneves, 7 drivers have 3 Indy wins and 8 have 2 checkered flags.

Here is a list of all the Indy 500 winners.

The 40-year-old Castroneves will start in the middle of Row 2 between Tony Kanaan (inside) and Justin Wilson (outside) in the 2015 race.
