WWE NXT Preview, Results & Highlights for June 17th, 2015

Tonight on the WWE Network, starting at 8 p.m. ET, Samoa Joe takes on NXT Champion in the main event of this week’s NXT after General Manager William Regal made the match to end last week’s NXT.

Samoa Joe debuted almost a month ago at NXT Takerover: Unstoppable where he prevented Owens from doing further damage to Sami Zayn after their NXT Championship match concluded. Samoa Joe has been a popular Indy and TNA darling for over a decade, and was one of the biggest names in the professional wrestling industry to NOT wrestle in a WWE (NXT, though) ring… until last week.

Owens wanted to fight Joe on his terms, but Regal made sure that didn’t happen. For more “KO,” watch Owens discuss the events of this past week’s Monday Night RAW including John Cena and the United States Championship:

Keep it here as Heavy will have updates and results from tonight’s NXT after the show airs on the WWE Network.

The show opened up with the mixed tag team match.

Enzo, Cass & Carmella Defeat Blake, Murphy & Alexa Bliss

For months, Blake and Murphy have been getting the better of Enzo and Cass, despite the fan-favorites being the better and more popular team. Along with Carmella, the six guido and guidette combination defeated the Tag Champs and Alexa Bliss tonight and got some revenge on the trio.

Charlotte Defeated a Newcomer KC Cassidy

– The Vaudevillains defeated Jason Jordan and Mikaze.

Samoa Joe & Kevin Owens fight to a Double Disqualification

After the match, Joe and Owens fought and brawled around the NXT Arena at Full Sail University. Owens has really been pissing off everybody lately. There’s a good chance this isn’t the last encounter between these two superstars, however, Owens may be making a move to the main roster within a few weeks should he lost the NXT Championship to Balor on July 4th on the WWE Network special in Tokyo.

Preview

The other much-anticipated match this week will be a six person inter-gender tag team match when Blake, Murphy and Alexa Bliss take on Enzo Amore, Colin Cassidy and Carmella. Enzo and Cass have had their issues with Blake and Murphy over the past few weeks, and their issues with the NXT Tag Team Champions has now spilled over to their best friend Carmella and Bliss. Bliss cost Enzo and Cass the Tag Team Championship at Unstoppable, so the bad blood in this match has been building for quite some time.

Last week’s NXT featured numerous fan favorites in action like Becky Lynch and Mojo Rawley, who found a new friend in the Internet champion, “Long Island Iced-Z” Zack Ryder.

Rawley and Ryder — the “Rough Ryders” ? — along with Aiden English and Simon Gotch (The Vaudevillains) should continue to be a factor in the NXT tag team division.

Last week also saw Baron Corbin in action. The “Lone Wolf” defeated Rhyno at Unstoppable, but has since looked a bit lost in the shuffle on NXT. Time will tell who Corbin will challenge next.

For those unaware, the WWE will be holding a live special from Tokyo, Japan, on the WWE Network on July 4th at 8 p.m. ET. NXT will be represented on the show when NXT Championship No. 1 contender Finn Balor takes on Kevin Owens.
