WWE Latest News, Rumors, Spoilers & Predictions for June 2nd, 2015

Elimination Chamber 2015

The WWE is currently in the midst of a span of five weeks where there have been three pay-per-views, two WWE Network podcast interviews with Stephanie McMahon and Paul Heyman and a whole lot of important news. The company has seen a dramatic shift in the main event scene as all three former Shield members have climbed the ranks and provided RAW and Smackdown with some great moments in recent weeks.

Just to get this out of the way: Stone Cold Steve Austin had Paul Heyman on his podcast live exclusively on the WWE Network following Monday Night RAW last night. Towards the end of the podcast, Heyman advocated for a Stone Cold vs. Brock Lesnar match at Wrestlemania 32.

Will it happen? No. Would it be awesome? GIMME A HELL YEAH!

So, there was a lot of other important news this week, especially regarding returning superstars — hint: BROOOOOOCCCCKKKK LEEESSSNNNNAAARRRRRRR — and the state of NXT. Here are WWE’s latest news and rumors from the past week:

Disclaimer: The following rumors are a compilation of WWE related news stories and speculation that circulated around the internet from the previous week. Each rumor should be taken as that, just a rumor, and nothing concrete or factual given the nature of WWE and the industry. All plans are always subject to change based on circumstances.

Samoa Joe Signed a Full-time Contract With WWE

According to Pro Wrestling Torch:

Samoa Joe has reportedly signed a full-time deal with WWE after impressing everyone at the recent NXT TV tapings. Joe’s merchandise sales from his first WWE t-shirt were so “off the charts” that Vince McMahon and Triple H pushed to get him signed to a full-time deal.

Joe will reportedly fulfill his indie dates that are already scheduled but will be working a full-time WWE schedule, likely with NXT before going to the main roster.

Samoa Joe was one of the biggest names of the 2000s that had not signed and competed for the WWE. Samoa Joe headlined matches in Ring of Honor with CM Punk and TNA with AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels and former WWE Champion Kurt Angle. He made his debut two weeks ago at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable

Joe came down to the ring and prevented NXT Champion Kevin Owens from attacking Sami Zayn even more. Owens left the ring and Joe stood tall by himself as the show closed.

Rusev Is Expected to Be Out for a Few Weeks

The Bulgarian Brute had just started the next stage of his career without Lana and was getting ready to compete in the Elimination Chamber Match for the Intercontinental Championship last Sunday. It all went downhill when Rusev suffered a leg injury in his match last Thursday night on Smackdown, which required immediate medical attention.

On Monday Night RAW Rusev showed up on crutches and in an interview said that he had lost his belt, girl and now was being forced to spend time away from the ring. Despite all that, Rusev plans on coming back strong as ever.

According to Cageside Seats, initial reports stated that Rusev would compete Sunday at Elimination Chamber and then was pulled off the card. Due to the crutches on RAW, the WWE is planning on selling the injury angle hard. By bringing it to television, that means the company is prepared to let Rusev take some time off in the next month to recover from it.

Although no official timetable has been announced, it seems like Rusev is looking at an injury that could last anywhere from 4-6 weeks (possibly longer), depending on how WWE wants to treat the situation.

Could a Roman Reigns Heel Turn Actually Happen?

Elimination Chamber 2015

This is more pure speculation than anything else, but the main event at Money in the Bank is set in stone as Dean Anbrose vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The decision to lean Dean’s way would bring their storyline neatly full circle. Last year it was Rollins, with the help of the Authority, who stole the Money in the Bank briefcase. Ambrose winning the Championship would complete a full year of Ambrose/Rollins and solidify it as a big-time WWE feud.

Then there’s the other side of the coin: continuing to toll with Rollins as the champ and, presumably, have Reigns win Money in the Bank at the PPV like he is set up to do right now after Monday night. Reigns and Ambrose have been by each other’s sides for the last month and have developed an on-screen rapport with the WWE fans that matches how it was like in the final months of The Shield with Rollins.

Reigns could use Money in the Bank to announce a Championship match well in advance (a babyface strategy) or to “cash in” at an opportune time like Edge, Miz and Rollins have done before in the past. Reigns has gained some fan support back after a tumultuous Road to Wrestlemania. Reigns is starting to find his groove as a face, which is good, but a heel turn could put him in a different stratosphere. There would also be enough time to turn him back babyface before next year’s Wrestlemania in Dallas.

It won’t happen and Reigns is too popular and good right now to do it, but if there’s any superstar comparable to this situation, it would be his cousin, Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson. ever heard of him?

According to Cageside Seats, Arrow star Stephen Amell may be looking to work an angle with WWE soon, possibly with Stardust (Cody Rhodes). A match would hypothetically happen closer to Summerslam, the WWE’s biggest show of the year, which will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn this year… and I will be in attendance, YES! YES! YES!
