Chea Courtney, the daughter of baseball legend, Pete Rose, isn’t just known for her famous father, but for carving out her own career path in the entertainment industry.

Her father, nicknamed “Charlie Hustle,” played professional baseball from 1963 to 1986, and then managed from 1984 to 1989. His career in baseball ended when he received a ban in 1989 for his gambling habit.

Although he will never be an exclusive member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, he will be remembered as one of the greatest hitters to play the game.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. She Was Born 2 Days Before Her Father Was Banned From Baseball

Chea Courtney was born on August 22, 1989 in Florida to parents Pete Rose and his second wife, Carol J. Woliung.

Her father, Pete Rose, played Major League Baseball until 1986 when he was suspended for gambling and eventually was banned in 1989 after taking up baseball management while continuing his gambling habit. Chea Courtney was born two days before Rose was forced to give up the sport that made up his whole life.

Rose was an outfielder, first baseman and third baseman for the Phillies, Expos and most importantly the Cinncinati Reds during his career. HE held multiple records at one point in the league, notably the record for Most Career Hits at 4,256 and Most Total Times on Base at 5,929.

There is much controversy over his brief return to the sport as a coach for the All-Star Game 2015 because of his criminal past involved with the game.

ESPN reported:

For 26 years, Pete Rose has kept to one story: He never bet on baseball while he was a player.

Yes, he admitted in 2004, after almost 15 years of denials, he had placed bets on baseball, but he insisted it was only as a manager.

In 1995, her mother took and her two children at the time to Los Angeles in order to enhance her daughter’s career.

Pete Rose said of his wife in an article:

Maybe we ought to take her to California to see if she could make it in show business.

Chea Courtney aspired to become something more than Pete Rose’s daughter. When she found the stage to be her calling she pursued a career in acting and eventually production. Her works include Melrose Place (1992), Dragonfly (2002) and Passions (1999).
