Canada hasn’t won a single men’s basketball medal in the history of the Pan American Games, but expectations in 2015 are for that drought to end.
It was easy to see why that’s the case during Tuesday’s opener, as the Canadians made easy work of the Dominican Republic, 105-88. Outside specialist Brady Heslip knocked down five three’s on his way to 24 points, former No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Kentucky superstar recruit Jamal Murray impressed in his senior team debut with 12 points.
Argentina, meanwhile, will be in desperate need of a win after an 86-84 overtime defeat against Mexico on Tuesday. You can see the complete round-robin standings here.
