WWE Battleground 2015 Preview: Matchups & Predictions

Here’s our extensive preview piece on each and every announced matchup that will appear on the card for WWE Battleground 2015!

R-Truth vs. King Barrett (Winner gets Barrett’s Crown)

WWE Battleground 2015

Predictions & Winner: Anyone else feel bad for King Barrett? The former supplier of entertaining bad news has captured the King of the Ring crown, but he’s been made to look even more worthless ever since. That’s backwards booking if you ask us. He’s been losing more than he’s been winning, and most of those losses have come courtesy of R-Truth. For their final (we hope) WWE Battleground 2015 bout, both men will do battle over Barrett’s KOTR crown. Even though Barrett has ate a ton of losses, we think WWE will do him a solid and allow him to become the victor here and continue to reign as the current king.

The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O’Neil) (c) vs. The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, and/or Xavier Woods) (WWE Tag Team Championship)

WWE Battleground 2015

Predictions & Winner: It’s been pretty awesome to watch the PTP enjoy their Tag Team Championship reign. We thought the title reign of The New Day came to a close much too soon, but at least they gave those championship belts to another worthy tag team. It’s time for those super positive Superstars to enact their rematch clause, which is why we’re arriving at this championship match. The New Day are gonna refer back to their nefarious means and numbers advantage throughout this bout, of course. But we see PTP ultimately prevailing and holding onto their WWE Tag Team Championship titles.

Ryback (c) vs. Big Show vs. The Miz (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

WWE Battleground 2015

Update: Awwwwwwww man…WWE.com has just announced that Ryback has sustained an injury and will unable to compete at Battleground 2015. This championship match looks to have been taken off the card as well.

Predictions & Winner: Ryback walked out of Elimination Chamber as the new Intercontinental Champion. His two new challengers come in the form of the massive Big Show and the (annoying) media darling known as The Miz. This triple threat matchup will most certainly see the two bigger men powering each other down at all costs while the smaller combatant sneaks in some offense here and there. Show will showcase his dominance the most during this title encounter, yet we see Ryback taking down both his opponents and walking away with his IC championship title held high.

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

WWE Battleground 2015

Predictions & Winner: YAY! IT’S ORTON VS. SHEAMUS #5980! Sigh…Anyways, the 2015 Money in the Bank winner will be engaging in another battle with the master of the RKO (again). We’ve witnessed both of these Superstars face each numerous times and we haven’t been entertained by their matches not one time. We see Sheamus getting the win here since he’s currently in the middle of reigning supreme as the Money in the Bank holder. Please let this be the last time Sheamus butts heads with Orton (it probably won’t…).
