Week 1 of the NFL preseason kicks off on Thursday with a slate of games, one being a matchup between the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins at Soldier Field.

The Bears have missed the playoffs for four straight seasons, including going 5-11 last season. While their quest to end that skid won’t begin until next month, Chicago is currently shaping its roster with the hopes of competing.

With Ryan Tannehill set to make the leap into the next tier of NFL quarterbacks after his recent contract extension, many expect the Dolphins to compete for a playoff spot in 2015.  It’s been a drought for the fish in recent seasons though; Miami has just one playoff appearance (a blowout Wild Card loss) in the last 14 seasons.

The teams squared off in Week 8 last season with Miami pulling out a 27-14 win. The starting lineups should be in the game for a series or two before the position battles between backups take center stage.
