Osi Umenyiora is walking away as a Giant.

The two-time Pro Bowler, spent nine seasons as a defensive end for the New York Giants, and the team announced that Umenyiora will retire with the team on Wednesday afternoon after signing a ceremonial one-day contract. He was selected by New York with the 56th pick in the 2003 NFL Draft and registered 75 sacks – fourth all-time in franchise history – and was part of two Super Bowl championships.

Umenyiora, 33, spent the past two seasons with the Falcons but has not had the same kind of defensive presence he had in New York. The Giants announced on Monday that Umenyiora will officially retire with the team during a press conference scheduled for Wednesday, August 26 at 12:15 p.m. ET.
