Green Bay Packers 0-14-6-6 — 26

The new-look Philadelphia Eagles’ offense once again was in top form as a 25-point first quarter led them to a 39-26 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 of the NFL preseason on Saturday.

Quarterback Sam Bradford was perfect, completing every single one of his 10 attempts — three of which went for touchdowns. The Eagles led 32-7 in the second quarter before the Packers rallied behind rookie Brett Hundley, who threw for more than 300 yards in the defeat.

A total of four 2-point conversion attempts were made, and none were converted.

Eagles Score on Their Opening Possession, Tim Tebow Got on the Field

A big return by Raheem Mostert put the Eagles in Green Bay Territory, and Sam Bradford hit Darren Sproles for an 8-yard touchdown. Tim Tebow entered the game and attempted the two-point conversion with a run, but the Packers stopped him short of the goal line.

Bradford Threw Another Touchdown Pass, Started the Game 7-for-7

Bradford had no problem guiding the offense after the Eagles defense forced a punt on the Packers’ opening possession. Bradford threw a 27-yard pass to Jordan Matthews, and a 3-yard touchdown pass to Trey Burton to push the lead to 12-0 after another failed 2-point conversion. After two drives, Bradford was 7-for-7 for 64 yards.

A Pick-6 From Walter Thurmond Gave the Eagles an Early 18-0 Lead

Packers rookie Brett Hundley got the start in this one as Aaron Rodgers was rested and Scott Tolzien is still recovering from a concussion. It did not go well early; on his second pass attempt veteran corner Walter Thurmond picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown.

Bradford Threw His 3rd Touchdown Pass of the 1st Quarter

Bradford kept his perfect start alive with a 7-yard touchdown pass to Brent Celek to push the Eagles’ lead to 25-0 in the first quarter. Bradford went 10-for-10 for 121 yards in his first three drives.

Mark Sanchez Led the Eagles on Another Scoring Drive

The Packers got on the board in the second quarter with a 1-yard James Starks TD run, but the Eagles immediately responded.

After Bradford finished up his night with the starting offense, Mark Sanchez took over and the offense found the end zone with a 9-yard touchdown pass to former Oregon Duck Jeff Maehl.

The teams would trade touchdown drives before halftime and the Eagles took a 39-14 lead into the break.

Brett Hundley Rebounded From a Poor Start to Throw for More Than 300 Yards

The rookie threw a pick-six in the first quarter, but played most of the game and finished it strong. He threw touchdown passes to Rajion Neal and Kennard Backman to get the Packers closer.

Sam Bradford will get the start at quarterback for the Eagles on Saturday against the Green Bay Packers, looking to get as many reps as possible before he is shut down before the season opener. Bradford was acquired from the Rams in the offseason, and went 3-for-5 for 35 yards in limited action against the Ravens last week.

Tim Tebow remains on the Eagles as their fourth quarterback behind Bradford, Matt Barkley and Mark Sanchez, but some believe he will make the final 53 man roster. Though he hasn’t been featured in any short-yardage plays yet, there may be something in Chip Kelly’s playbook for special situations at the goal line.

The Packers are also dealing with injuries along their offensive line in addition to the Nelson debacle, which may carry over into the regular season. The Eagles have an excellent defensive line led by Fletcher Cox, who will provide a stern test for Packers running back Eddie Lacey.

After it was revealed that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers would only play sparingly in what is usually the busiest week of the preseason for the starters, there is now a chance Rodgers won’t play a single down against the Eagles. That would mean extended playing time for rookie Brett Hundley and Matt Blanchard.
