Ryan Allen, a childhood friend of Derrick Rose who himself briefly played for the Chicago Bulls, is accused along with Rose and another friend in a lawsuit alleging they gang raped Rose’s ex-girlfriend.

TMZ reports that the alleged assault occurred in August 2013, while Rose and the unnamed woman were still dating. She recently filed the lawsuit. Randall Hampton, another longtime friend and Rose’s personal manager, is also named in the lawsuit.

1. He & Rose’s Personal Manager Are Accused of Slipping the Woman a Drug to Rape Her

The woman, who dated Rose from 2011 to 2013, claims in the lawsuit that Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton invited her over to Rose’s home in Beverly Hill, California, in August 2013 and slipped something into her drink to try to rape her, TMZ reports.

The woman says she escaped from the house unharmed, but later Rose and his friends broke into her apartment and gang raped her while she was incapacitated, according to TMZ. She says she waited to file the lawsuit because she was embarrassed and did not want her family to find out.

Rose, Allen and Hampton have not yet responded to the lawsuit.

Ryan Allen, 26, was signed by the Chicago Bulls, the team Rose plays for, in 2012 after graduating from college. The guard appeared in two pre-season games before he was cut. Like Rose, Allen is originally from Chicago.

Allen also played on the Bulls’ Summer League team in 2013.


3. His Brother, Tony, Plays for the Memphis Grizzlies

His brother, Tony Allen, is a NBA veteran who currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies.

The brothers did have the opportunity to play in the same game during Ryan’s brief NBA career, a 2012 pre-season game in their home city of Chicago.


4. He Played College Basketball at Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Ryan Allen played basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He joined the Panthers in 2010 and player for two seasons. He previously played for Vincennes University and Motlow State Community College.

He played for three years in high school at Whitney Young High School in Chicago, before transferring to Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois, for his senior season. He also spent one year at Notre Dame Prep.

At UW-Milwaukee, Allen was a starter during his senior season, averaging 5.2 points per game.


5. He Has Known Rose Since High School & Is Part of His Close Circle of Friends

Ryan Allen is part of Rose’s close circle of friends, which also includes Hampton.

“We tried to keep the same core guys,” Hampton told ESPN Chicago in 2011. “We’ve all grown up together since sixth grade. We try to keep it that tight. We don’t want all these outsiders coming in. People try, but we don’t really give them the time of day.”

In 2013, Rose threw an extravagant 25th birthday party for Allen.
