Seahawks vs. Chargers: Time, Channel & Line

The Seattle Seahawks head to San Diego to take on the Chargers in the all important third preseason game. The Seahawks are 0-2 so far this preseason. They enter Saturday’s game after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 14-13.

So far, there have been two big stories for the Seahawks over the preseason. The first story has been the hold-out of safety Kam Chancellor. Chancellor did not report to training camp and continues to hold-out in hopes of getting a new deal done with the Seahawks. Secondly, all eyes have been on the Seahawks offensive line who has not looked good in either preseason game.

The Chargers enter the third preseason game 2-0. They are coming off a 22-19 victory over the Cardinals. Players like Philip Rivers and rookie Melvin Gordon did not play in the game, but the majority of the starters are expected to play against the Seahawks. Gordon has battled through injuries during the preseason and has yet to have a breakout performance.

Seattle Seahawks Preview

It is hard to imagine the Seahawks defense not being one of the top units in the league. The question for the defending NFC champs lies on the offensive end. Particularly, the subpar offensive line. The Seahawks traded Pro Bowl center Max Unger to the New Orleans Saints for tight end Jimmy Graham. Graham gives the Seahawks a big target for Russell Wilson to throw to, but the trade left the offensive line with even more question marks. Expect the Seahawks to play their best linemen the majority of Saturday’s game to see what they have for the start of the season.

San Diego Chargers Preview

Much of the Chargers offseason was spent speculating on Philip Rivers contract situation as well as the suspension of Antonio Gates. Gates will miss the first four regular season games, but Rivers was able to reach a new agreement with the Chargers. Charger fans continue to want to see new running back Melvin Gordon show some flashes of his ability during the preseason. Wide receiver Stevie Johnson is reportedly having a nice camp and could be someone to watch as well.
