Preseason tournaments between the best squads around the world have been a rousing success in terms of attendance and interest. One of the last cups takes place this week in Munich where Bayern will host the fourth annual Audi Cup. A.C. Milan, Tottenham, Real Madrid and Bayern will play a quick two-day, semifinal-final format tournament.
The two semifinals — Real Madrid vs. Tottenham, Bayern vs. A.C. Milan — take place on Tuesday, with the third place playoff and final slated for Wednesday. All matches will be held at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
Bayern Munich began their season on a poor note, falling to Wolfsburg on penalties in the German Super Cup. After playing Tuesday and Wednesday, Bayern will play their first Bundesliga fixture Friday against Hamburg.
A.C. Milan suffered a nightmare season in 2014/15, placing 10th in Serie A for its lowest finish since 1997/98. The club spent $70 million in transfer fees this summer to bolster the squad, including signing Carlos Bacca and Andrea Bertolacci.
