He was running down the field.

It was a moment that Washington Redskins fans had waited an entire preseason for. DeSean Jackson was back on the gridiron and breaking through secondaries. Jackson ran his route down the far sideline on Sunday’s opener against the Miami Dolphins and came up empty on the play.

He also came up limping.

Jackson, the Redskin’s top deep threat and No. 1 receiver, went immediately to the bench, clearly frustrated with himself and his hamstring. He was looked at by trainers and quickly evaluated for a hamstring injury. It didn’t take long for him to be downgraded from questionable to out:

Jackson had had 56 receptions for 1,169 yards and six touchdowns working with three different Washington quarterbacks.

Be on the lookout for Pierre Garcon and Ryan Grant who will likely see their targets increase with the absence of Jackson on the field. You can follow along with the game here:
