The Carolina Panthers rode a steady, balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive outing to a Week 1 win. If they can keep it going, they should have no problem with the Texans in Week 2 at home.
Houston lost to the Chiefs in their opener as starting quarterback Brian Hoyer struggled. Ryan Mallett replaced Hoyer in the fourth quarter and led the Texans to two scores late. The Texans may have an early-season quarterback controversy on their hands.
Meanwhile, Carolina, whose defense held Jacksonville to 75 second-half yards last week, also had a defensive score early in the third period. No matter who starts under center for Houston, it may be a tough go.
