Though Italy have looked far from their best in Euro 2016 qualifying, the Azurri sit top of Group H with three matches to play. One of those takes place on Sunday when Bulgaria visits the Stadio Renzo Barbera in Palermo.
Italy got by Malta 1-0 in Thursday and went to top of the group as Croatia were held to a surprise 0-0 draw by Azerbaijan.
The top two teams from each group reach Euro 2016, the first European Championships to feature 24 teams.
Here is how the table stacks up. All teams have played seven games with three remaining:
1. Italy (15 points)
2. Croatia (14 points) -1 point for crowd trouble
3. Norway (13 points)
4. Bulgaria (8 points)
5. Azerbaijan (5 points)
6. Malta (1 point)
Bulgaria needs a win and a lot of help to get back into the race for third place, which would mean a playoff round tie with a third-place team from another group.
