Dolphins fans rejoice.

Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle, largely responsible for the debacle that has been the Dolphins 1-3 start, has been fired after several days of deliberating from Dolphins brass. Coyle was brought into the organization by recently fired head coach Joe Philbin, and it was assumed the pair would leave together. But given the inexperience of interim head coach Dan Campbell, there was speculation Coyle may stick around.

That was a laughable concept for Dolphins fans, who have seen a talented defense reduced to mush under Coyle. The Dolphins have one sack this year. They surrender over 25 points a game. They have not forced a fumble.

Replacing Coyle as the DC will be Lou Anarumo. Anarumo had previously worked with Joe Philbin while they were coaches and Harvard, and Anarumo has been the Dolphins defensive backs coach since 2012. It is unknown if he will remain in the role after this season.

The Dolphins are on their bye week, and don’t play another game until October 18th against the Titans.
