Nick Chubb: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Georgia fans were worried last season when running back Todd Gurley struggled with injuries and was forced to miss time. It became clear that Nick Chubb would be a more than adequate replacement. During his freshman season, he rushed for eight straight games of 100 yards or more after he became the starting running back. Two games were for 200 yards or more, including rushing for 266 yards and two touchdowns against Louisville in Georgia’s bowl game.

Chubb has picked up where he left off early in the 2015 season. He is one of the best running backs in the country and on pace to break many of the records set by the great Georgia running backs such as Herschel Walker that played before him. Chubb lets his play do the talking and does his best to stay out of the public spotlight.

Here’s what you need to know about the Georgia running back:

1. Chubb Was a High School Track & Field Star

Not only was Chubb a gifted high school football player, he was also an incredible track and field athlete. He set season records for Georgia high school track and field in the 100 meters, 200 meters, shot put and long jump events.

The above photo was taken at one of Chubb’s high school meets and had the internet buzzing. As you can see, Chubb has quite the vertical jump.

2. Nick Is Not Big On Social Media

The Tweet above is from Georgia offensive lineman Hunter Long explaining why Chubb does not frequently use social media. He is a man of few words choosing to let his actions on the field speak for him.

While Chubb does have a Twitter account, he uses it sporatically. When he does use it, he typically Retweets other people. He has one Tweet of his own this entire year. Not surprisingly it was only three words:

Chubb also has an Instagram account which he also uses infrequently.

Shaw attended the University of North Georgia. She lists herself as a bartender in Athens on her Facebook page. Both Chubb and Shaw are from Cedartown, Georgia.

It is hard to tell the list of offers Chubb received apart from a recent Top 25 college football poll. According to Yahoo Sports, he was considering offers from South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, Notre Dame, Texas, Ohio State, and Tennessee among many others. Yahoo ranked him as a four-star recruit while 247 Sports listed him as a five-star.
