Fans looking to end their Thursday with a classic international matchup were left disappointed, as heavy rain in Brazil last night caused the team’s match with Argentina to be postponed. The weather caused Estadio Monumental to look flooded just hours before kickoff, and weather escalated into hail later in the evening.

Who wants to see Neymar and Di Maria slide around in that? Take a look at the field just a few hours before kickoff:

This will be the third of 16 matches these teams will play in CONMEBOL qualifying, and they are on a tight schedule. According to Oscar Rojas of livesoccertv.com, Brazilian officials attempted to delay the kickoff time Thursday night but were ultimately forced to postpone. Officials also noted that fans were unable to reach the stadium because of weather-related traffic.

The extra day won’t mean much for Argentina, who are still dealing with injuries to some of their best weapons. Messi, Aguero, and Carlos Tevez will all be out for tonight’s game.

Once again, the match is scheduled to air on beIN Sports in the US at 7 p.m. Eastern.
