The Dallas Cowboys would really, really like a victory on Sunday afternoon.

After early-season injuries took their toll on the squad, the Cowboys have been floundering and come into their matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on a four-game skid and a current spot at the bottom of the NFC East. That’s what makes this game so important.

Last year, the Cowboys went to Seattle and defeated the Seahawks at home, a task that had previously been considered all but impossible with Russell Wilson at quarterback. Now, Dallas looks to defend its home turf, a 5-point underdog at AT&T Stadium on Sunday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

There is, of course, a reason for that. Matt Cassel will still be under center for the Cowboys, a week removed from a less-than-positive performance in New York. Dez Bryant’s status is still up in the air after the Pro Bowl wide receiver returned to practice this week, but even if he does get on the field, there are plenty of questions about just what he’ll be able to do.

There is also reason for confidence, however. According to OddsShark, the Cowboys are 11-2 SU and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games against consecutive losses. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against the Cowboys.

While Dallas is desperately trying to gain some momentum heading into the second half of the season, the Seahawks are trying to maintain theirs. Seattle comes into the game well-rested after last Thursday’s shellacking of the San Francisco 49ers and with a matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on the schedule next, a solid showing in Dallas is not only helpful; it’s necessary.

The Seahawks are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 games, but 14-6 SU in their last 20 games.

The total for Sunday afternoon’s Seattle vs. Dallas betting matchup is set for 40.5 points at the sportsbooks. The total has gone UNDER in four of Seattle’s last six games. On the other side of things, the total has gone UNDER in four of Dallas’ last six games as well. The total has also gone UNDER in five of the Cowboy’s last seven games when playing Seattle.

The OddsShark computer is predicting a 22.6 – 18.2 Seahawks victory.
