After beginning her career as a take-down/submission specialist, Ronda Rousey has steadily rounded out her arsenal, ending three of her last four fights via knockout. On Saturday night, that newfound versatility will be tested against Holly Holm.
The challenger, who is relatively new to the MMA scene (9-0 overall, 2-0 UFC), is a decorated boxing champion. Others have tried–and failed–to stand and box with Rousey (most recently, Bethe Correia), but no one with this kind of pedigree has faced off against “Rowdy.” There’s little doubt Rousey can handle it–that’s why she’s such a heavy favorite–but at the very least it will be a compelling clash of styles.
The UFC 193 PPV card started at 10 p.m. ET, and with the first two fights going the distance, Rousey and Holm will begin at about 12:45 a.m. ET. The co-main event between Joanna Jędrzejczyk and Valérie Létourneau began at 11:52 p.m. ET and ended at 12:24 a.m. ET. Here’s everything else you need to know about the event:
