It’s been a wild year. And sadly, it has to end.

USWNT wraps up their victory tour tonight in New Orleans, when they take on China. The team has been touring the country since their World Cup victory over the summer, and will finish the 10-city tour with more tears than cheers. That’s because it won’t just be the end of a year, it’s the end of an era for women’s soccer.

After fifteen years with the team, Abby Wambach will retire after tonight’s match. She will finish with more international goals than any man or woman in history, totalling 186 over her career. Wambach hung around in an attempt to capture her first World Cup title, and will retire with her career goals achieved.

Wambach steps away from the team, setting the stage for new talent to spearhead women’s soccer. Christen Press has shined in the team’s domestic tour, and will likely be the primary scorer up top when USA heads to the Summer Olympics next year.

Tonight’s match against China airs live on Fox Sports 1 at 8 p.m. Eastern. There is no broadcast outside the US.
