In what was easily one of the most anticipated fights in the company’s 22-year history, Ireland’s pride and joy backed up his endless trash talk when he hit Aldo — who was previously the UFC’s only featherweight champion — with a perfect left-handed punch. McGregor actually took a hit as Aldo fell to the ground, but it didn’t matter as the Notorious finished it with one hammer fist.

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens next. Jose Aldo, one of the company’s best ever champions, will surely want a rematch. But when you combine the way this fight ended with the spectacular performance by Frankie Edgar on Friday night, and there’s going to be a lot of clamoring for McGregor vs. Aldo.

No matter what happens next, though, this was a stunning end to an unforgettable night.
