Today’s meeting between Barcelona and Atletico proves to be a great matchup of two contrasting styles from the best teams in Spain. Barcelona will be bringing their full offensive arsenal including Neymar, whose status has been in doubt with a foot injury. The big trio will be necessary against Madrid’s stout defense, which has conceded just eight goals in 21 Liga matches this season.
Atleti have stayed atop the league with clean sheets, but the real question Saturday will be whether they can generate their own offense. So far the team largely depends on Antoine Griezmann for their goals, and that will continue with Fernando Torres sidelined for today.
The bug that was going around Barcelona has passed, as several players who were ill for Copa del Rey action will have returned to training. Iniesta, Arda Turan, and Jordi Alba are all fine to return to the lineup today in a battle for the top spot in La Liga.
