It was never close.

The Chiefs blew out the Texans to open up the NFL Playoffs, beating them in all aspects of the game on their way to a 30-0 victory.

Kansas City instantly quieted a sold-out NRG Stadium, when Knile Davis ran the opening kickoff 106 yards for a touchdown. When the Texans were on offense, they were abysmal. Brian Hoyer turned the ball over five times, including once at the goal line. The Texans looked lost and desperate, at one point attempting a wildcat run with J.J. Watt at quarterback to little success.

After Watt became hampered by a groin injury in the second half, the Texans were cooked. Travis Kelce led the Chiefs with eight catches for 128 yards, and in total KC had over 300 yards of offense. They’ll now wait for the winner of Steelers-Bengals to find their second round opponent.

Final Score: Chiefs 30, Texans 0

4Q: Notice the sea of red at the bottom. Chase Daniels in for Alex Smith to finish off the game for KC.

Chiefs 30, Texans 0

3Q: This one is over, folks. Spencer Ware from five yards out finishes off the Texans, who failed in all three aspects of the game tonight.

Chiefs 27, Texans 0

3Q: Kansas City looks to put the Chiefs away early, scoring their first offensive touchdown of the game. With J.J. Watt on the sidelines Alex Smith was free to work, and hit Chris Conley for a nine-yard score. The play finished off an 11-play, 94 yard yard drive, and likely finished off the 2015 Texans.

Chiefs 20, Texans 0

3Q: The Texans open the second half with three straight first downs, aiding by chunk yardage from Alfred Blue. But too many short throws from Hoyer leave the Texans short at midfield. They need a big play from their defense if they want to spark a comeback.

Chiefs 13, Texans 0

2Q: Brian Hoyer commits his fourth turnover to end the half and heads to the sideline amid a shower of boos. Kudos to the Texans for trying to be aggressive before halftime, but Hoyer completely overthrew a double-covered Nate Washington. Brandon Weeden’s name is starting to come up.

Chiefs 13, Texans 0

2Q: Houston’s best drive of the game comes to an abrupt halt. After strong runs by Alfred Blue, Brian Hoyer gives the ball away again. This time it was to Josh Mauga, who picked off Hoyer at the goal line. That was right after this play, when J.J. Watt and Vince Wilfork ran a wildcat play at the goal line.

Chiefs 13, Texans 0

2Q:The Texans are bending but so far have not broken. Santos boots another field goal, and the Chiefs extend their lead to 13.

Chiefs 13, Texans 0

2Q: Chiefs in control early.

Chiefs 10, Texans 0

The Texans hold the ball for more than five minutes, only for Brian Hoyer to lose his grip on the football and commit his second turnover of the first quarter. The worst possible start for Hoyer so far.

End of First Quarter: Chiefs 7, Texans 0

1Q: Brian T. Smith knows what’s up.

1Q: As far as season-saving interceptions in the first quarter go, Brian Cushing may be the only one. He makes the play on a deflected Alex Smith pass and breathes new life into NRG Stadium.

1Q: Oh dear. Chiefs take over.

1Q: On third and long, the Chiefs got great pass protection, and Alex Smith just barely missed Albert Wilson for a wide-open touchdown. Chiefs punting.

Chiefs 7, Texans 0

1Q: Wow. Chiefs lead by 7, after 11 seconds of football.

Chiefs 7, Texans 0

Shame for both teams. they really gave it their all in warmups.

We’re almost set for kickoff. Tori Kelly in for National Anthem, George Foreman in for the Texans coin toss.
