Usually at this stage in the FA Cup, Liverpool are still facing clubs that would be wary of playing under the lights at Anfield. That’s not the case with West Ham, who have beaten Liverpool in three of their previous four meetings.
It could be a struggle for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who have played two exhausting matches in the past seven days. Last weekend there was a nine-goal thriller against Norwich, followed by an equally stressful albeit more defensive performance against Stoke in the League Cup semifinal. Liverpool advanced on penalties, and will be looking to make a second trip to Wembley with a successful FA Cup run.
After sweeping Liverpool in a season for the first time in 52 years, there’s no doubt full-strength West Ham is capable of advancing today. But impact players Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll will be missing from the lineup, which may change the tactics of manager Slaven Bilic.
