United look to climb back into the top four of the league table today, and they can do so by earning three points over visiting Southampton. The Saints won their match at Old Trafford last year, but that was their only victory in their last ten attempts.
Southampton sit seven points behind United at tenth, but could debut their newest signing today. Charlie Austin, signed last week from QPR, could feature in the side today. It would be an added threat against a shorthanded United back line, who will be without Ashley Young for today and beyond. The 30-year-old needs groin surgery and could miss the remainder of the season. It’s a tough blow for United, who are already missing several wide players to injury. Despite all that United are unbeaten in 2016, winning two of their last three matches.
