And then there were four.
All of the top seeds in the ACC tournament advanced on Thursday, setting up a highly compelling pair of semifinal contests.
It’s a battle of offensive juggernauts in the first game, as North Carolina and Notre Dame, who met in last year’s championship, both rank in the Top 6 nationally in Ken Pomeroy’s adjusted offensive efficiency rankings. The Irish knocked off UNC, 80-76, in a thriller in early February.
The second semi between Virginia and Miami will be a much slower affair, but it isn’t short on intrigue. The Hurricanes feature a deadly offensive attack and array of scorers, while Virginia defends perhaps better than anyone in America. This will be the rubber match, as they split a pair of close matchups in the regular season.
