Antonio Conte’s link to Chelsea will be much discussed today, as Italy continues to build momentum on their way to EURO 2016. They will be tested today against the reigning European champions, but Vincente del Bosque will make slight tweaks to a Spanish team that has dominated Europe in recent years.
One of those changes today could be the inclusion of Athletic Bilbao striker Artiz Aduriz. At 35 Aduriz is having a fantastic season, and is rewarded with his first international call-up since 2010. He’s one of several changes del Bosque will ponder before the summer, including who will be his starting keeper. Iker Casillas has earned the right to be named starter, but young David de Gea is the future in goal for Spain, and he could certainly make a case for the starting job moving forward.
Italy, who reached the EURO final against Spain in 2012, will face a tough road to return to the last game. They are in one of the most dangerous groups in the competition, facing Group E matches against Belgium, Sweden and Ireland.
