Back in early November, it looked like a good chance that Maryland and Kansas would be meeting in the NCAA tournament.

Only most thought it would be happening in the Final Four. Not the Sweet 16.

In the AP preseason poll, the Terrapins and Jayhawks were ranked No. 3 and 4, respectively. Bill Self’s side has exceeded the hype, winning the Big 12 regular season, winning the Big 12 tournament, earning the No. 1 overall seed and establishing itself as the odds-on favorite to cut down the nets in Houston. The Terps, though, have fallen short of expectations, struggling with inconsistency through Big Ten play en route to a No. 5 seed.

Nevertheless, here we are. The Jayhawks, with 16 straight wins, look unstoppable. The Terrapins, at the very least, have the future NBA talent to make things really interesting if they’re at the top of their game. This one’s going to be good.

Tip-off is scheduled for around 9:40 p.m. ET (30 minutes after Villanova-Miami ends) on CBS. You can click here for a prediction, or you can read on for all the betting info, courtesy of OddsShark:

Kansas vs. Maryland Betting Information

Spread: Kansas (-7)

Over/Under: 144.5

Moneyline: Maryland (+260), Kansas (-320)

Betting Trends: Kansas’ 16-game winning streak has been kind to bettors. During that stretch, the Jayhawks are an impressive 13-3 against the spread, with two of those losses coming when they were double-digit favorites against good teams (Texas Tech, Iowa State).

For a team that often plays below its ceiling, Maryland would presumably be a bad against-the-spread team. That checks out, as the Terps are just 16-16-2 against the spread this season, although they have covered in four of their last six games.

In five contests as an underdog, Mark Turgeon’s squad has covered just once (1-2-2 ATS).
