WATCH: Northern Iowa Beats Texas on Half Court Shot

Northern Iowa ended a day of madness with the shot of the tournament. The Panthers beat Texas on a half court shot to advance to play Texas A&M on Sunday. The shot occurred just before 12:30 Eastern but was well worth the wait for those who stayed up.

NIU was up by two with ten seconds remaining. Texas hit a shot with 2.7 seconds left in the game, and it appeared the game was headed to overtime. Northern Iowa opted not to take a timeout.

Paul Jesperson caught the ball on the right side just before half court. He took a couple dribbles and released it from half court. The ball banked in as time expired to send Northern Iowa to the next round of the NCAA tournament.

Just seconds after the game ended, St. Joe’s beat Cincinnati when a last-second shot was ruled no good. The sequence ended a crazy day of games where a 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 seed all won a game.
