Wood Memorial 2016: Time, TV Channel & Live Stream

The Wood Memorial features Shagaf and several other potential Kentucky Derby participants. It takes place at Aqueduct in Queens, New York.

The race is one of three Kentucky Derby preps on Saturday’s slate as the points race heats up for next month’s marquee event at Churchill Downs. The Wood Memorial is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m Eastern start on NBC Sports Network.

Odds: According to the Courier-Journal, Shagaf (2/1) is the favorite to win followed by Outwork (5/2) and Matt King Coal (3/1).

Race Preview: Shagaf is looking to win his fourth straight race on Saturday. A victory would mark three straight wins at New York’s Aqueduct Racetrack. He enters The Wood Memorial in ninth place in the Kentucky Derby points chase.

Saturday’s race is a 100–40–20–10 points breakdown and a $1 million purse goes to the winner.

Irad Ortiz, Jr. is Shagaf’s jockey, and Shadwell Stable owns the horse. The duo has had great success at Aqueduct.
