WWE Extreme Rules 2016 Preview: Matches & Predictions

The Usos (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso) vs. The Club (Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows) (Texas Tornado Tag Team Match)

Extreme Rules 2016

Predictions & Winner: The Bloodline takes on The Club…again. We’d be a lot more invested in this matchup if we didn’t happen to see it a hundred times already. The only reason why we have a slight care about this Tornado Tag Team Match is because of its participants. Both teams have put on some good matches while they’ve been embroiled in the main event storyline. But the repetitive nature of the matches they’ve participated in have burnt us out. We’re going to place our bets on Anderson and Gallows for this one. After this feud hopefully comes to a close, we see The Club aiming their sights at The New Day.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin (No Disqualification Match)

Extreme Rules 2016

Predictions & Winner: The two guys who girls wouldn’t mind being splashed all over a Playgirl cover are still at war. Ziggler and Corbin have been trading wins ever since the post-WrestleMania season began. This Kickoff match won’t go too long, which is something that disappoints us about WWE’s speciality matches for lower card feuds. Ziggler and Corbin will get into a big brawl, but there won’t be a lot of weaponry involved. That No DQ rule will play a part during the finish of this match, though. We expect Ziggler to use the exposed ring corner to catch Corbin off guard. Ziggler’s gonna pull away with the surprise roll up pin and further piss off Corbin.

Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho (Asylum Match)

Extreme Rules 2016

Predictions & Winner: Wow! So we just got a new stipulation match. It’s not as bad as the Punjabi Prison or Kennel From Hell match, plus it gives us Lethal Lockdown vibes. So Ambrose is trapping Jericho into a new match where the steel cage is involved and several weapons are within hands reach (if you can climb up the cage, that is). As soon as we saw its unveiling, our soul screamed out the following terms – CZW, Cage of Death and Jon Moxley. So this one’s gonna break down into a pretty entertaining grudge match. Ambrose and Y2J put on a good affair at the last PPV, so we know they’re gonna go even crazier with this new match type. We think WWE’s gonna throw Ambrose another hard earned victory. And then we have a feeling Y2J’s going on another “vacation.”

Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles (Extreme Rules Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Predictions & Winner: And now we have arrived at the main event of Extreme Rules 2016. Reigns will defend his title against the man that’s been giving him problems for a while now: the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles. Reigns and Styles both have their respective tag team buddies backing them up during both men’s bigger matchups. Once again, we should all expect to see these Superstars put on an amazing match that’s worthy of being tied to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Steel chairs, tables (more specifically, the announce table), kendo sticks and even more weapons will play a part during this main event. The Usos and Anderson & Gallows will get involved once again, but we think Reigns will run through them again and emerge as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. We think Seth Rollins will return shortly and reignite his beef with Reigns, while Styles will transition into some type of mid-card feud. Maybe Bray Wyatt needs a new toy to play with…
