UPDATE: Chris Brooks, Jake Dalton, Sam Mikulak, Alex Maddour, and John Orozco are the five men who will be competing in Rio this summer.

Tonight is the final night of the Men’s Olympic Gymnastics Trials in St. Louis, and by the end of the evening, we will know which five gymnasts will represent the U.S. in Rio this summer.

The men will be competing on six events: the floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bars. Sam Mikulak went into tonight leading the trials, and he’ll be fighting for a definite spot in the Olympic games.

So, how exactly is the team determined? Scores from the P&G Championships in early June will be combined along with this weekend’s results. Two spots are available, however, for automatic qualification– if someone finishes in the top two in the all-arounds and places in the top three in three of the individual events, they’ll automatically be named a member of the U.S. team this summer. The other spots will be determined by the Olympic Selection Committee. Going into tonight, Sam Mikulak was the closest to automatically qualifying– following the P&G Championships, he was in first place in the all-arounds as well as second in both pommel horse and parallel bars.
