Chris Jericho may be the best in the world at what he does, but when he’s not berating the WWE roster for being stupid idiots, he’s just a regular dad taking care of his three kids in Tampa, Florida.
Jericho, whose real name is Christopher Irvine, has one son and two twin girls. He’s a busy guy, but he says that whatever free time he has is spent fully involved with his kids in Tampa.
“When I’m at home, I’m dad,” he said. “I don’t have a lot of friends in Tampa, not that I don’t want friends, but I don’t have time. I want to do all family stuff all the time.”
Here’s everything you need to know about Y2J’s wife and children.
1. He Met His Wife at a Japanese Restaurant in Tampa
Jericho and his wife Jessica Lockhart met in a Japanese restaurant in Tampa, Florida.
He explains in his book A Lion’s Tale that while he was at the restaurant that many of his fellow wrestlers would go to after a show, he was caught staring at Lockhart. He soon found out that Jessica was a friend of his friend and fellow WWE performer Disco Inferno (Glenn Gilbertti).
Gilbertti introduced them, and they began to talk at the restaurant for hours. Jericho says that he instantly realized she was his destiny.
2. His Daughters Have a YouTube Channel
Jericho’s two daughters, Sierra Loretta “SiSi” Irvine and Cheyenne Lee “Chey” Irvine, run a YouTube channel together, and their vlogs are pretty incredible. There’s one video where they spend three straight minutes goofing on their dad for having a bad hair day, stealing his hat and running around the house with it. They also have a whole series of prank videos that should have way more views than they do.
When being interviewed about the channel by their father on his podcast, Talk is Jericho, Sisi and Chey said that they wanted to make their own YouTube channel after watching Minecraft videos and mod showcases. When they promoted the channel on Jericho’s podcast, they had only 39 subscribers, but afterwards that number shot up to over 1,000, which they were quite excited about. There’s an adorable exchange in that podcast interview where Sisi asks people not to leave any mean comments on their channel, and Chey responds, “It’s a free country!”
3. His Son Is Obsessed With Fish
Jericho’s son Ash is a frequent guest on the podcast Talk is Jericho, and he is a self-described fish expert. His room is decorated with an ocean theme, and he loves everything related to undersea life and sharks in particular. Ash says that when he grows up he wants to be a Ichthyologist, which is a person who studies fish and sharks.
Typically Ash joins Jericho on the podcast during Shark Week; in his most recent appearance, Ash talks very in-depth about the migration of sardines.
“I’ve loved fish pretty much since I saw born,” he said in an interview. “I started watching shark shows and Shark Week and fishing shows and stuff like that, and I just loved them…by the time I was two I could name so many fish and sharks.”
In addition to oceanography, Ash also takes after his father when it comes to sports, as he plays hockey and football.
4. He and His Kids Love ‘Star Wars’
Like many families, the Irvines bond over a love of Star Wars. When The Force Awakens came out last December, Ash, Sisi and Chey all appeared on Talk is Jericho for a family review of the film. Ash said that it was “all that you hoped and more,” Sisi said it was “so action packed and they brought back old characters and it was just amazing,” while Chey offered what is perhaps the greatest movie review of all time.
“It was almost as awesome as cheese itself, but cheese is better than that, so I can’t say that,” she said.
Chey did have a few criticisms of the film, though, saying that (spoiler alert!) Ben Solo looked basically nothing like his parents, Han Solo and Leia Organa. The whole family also found it odd that Kylo Ren was constantly taking off his mask throughout the movie. Ash said his favorite part was the Maz’s castle sequence, while Chris Jericho loved the Rathtar chase.
They aren’t just casual fans of the movies, either; Jericho’s kids know what they’re talking about, with Ash on that episode being able to identify exactly how old Chewbacca was between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back.
5. His Kids Don’t Really Like Wrestling
Their dad might be one of the most famous wrestlers in the world, but Chris Jericho’s kids aren’t that into wrestling. Ash said in an interview that he only watches it when his dad is on and he doesn’t have much of an interest in pursuing a career in the sport.
Jericho added that his kids get really upset when he loses, which may be part of why they’re not super into the whole thing.
“I don’t think they like wrestling because they don’t like seeing me getting beat up, and they don’t like when I lose,” Jericho said. “Which, especially as a bad guy, is always.”
Jericho also said that even though he’s famous around the world, when he’s at home, he’s just dad, and his kids just think about the WWE as where their father goes to work. Jericho can relate to this; his father was famous hockey player Ted Irvine, but Jericho did not realize how cool this was when he was growing up.
“I never really saw any big deal,” he said. “He was just my dad, and that was his job. He went to work and he played hockey. But all the other kids thought it was so cool…Now obviously I realize how very cool it is.”
