New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Donald Trump might be pals, but Brady is the latest sports star that Trump has reportedly failed to get to speak at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Twitter.

Trump and Brady have a long friendship and Brady said in September 2015 that it “would be great” if Trump was elected.

In early June, Trump told the New York Times that Brady and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger both support him, as does NASCAR CEO Brian France and former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight. He said that these celebrity friends would make sure the RNC felt different from past political conventions.

“We’re going to do it a little different, if it’s O.K.,” he said at a rally in Richmond, Virginia. “I’m thinking about getting some of the great sports people who like me a lot.

However, some sports stars who support Trump won’t be there. Trump said Mike Tyson was never asked to speak at the RNC. Former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka also said he won’t be there, even though he supports Trump.

Considering that Brady counldn’t get Kevin Durant to join the Boston Celtics, him skipping the RNC to help Trump might be a good idea.
